Viele dieser Schiffe waren bei der Beseitigung der Unfallfolgen des Reaktorunfalls von Tschernobyl eingesetzt und sind so kontaminiert, dass sie nicht mehr verwendet werden konnten. Die Hälfte der Schiffe sind im laufe der Jahre bereits gesunken.
